  23. Many video cards with S3 chips caused the conflict you mentioned.  Two
  24. solutions:  
  25.  
  26.     Get the latest S3 drivers -- many manufacturers fixed the problem
  27.  
  28.    Move modem.  Com2 is a good choice, if you can disable any existing
  29. serial port you have there (assuming its an internal modem).
  30.
